What kills the most people in the United States? Is it smoking? Drinking alcohol? Car accidents? Cancer? None of the above: it's heart disease. Heart disease is especially scary because it can be hard to identify before it's too late. Often, the first symptom is sudden death. Not much you can do to head that off at the pass, huh? Here are some symptoms, common and uncommon, of impending heart disease.
1. Clear skin.
Weird, right? If you had clear skin as a teen and onward, your risk of coronary heart disease actually increases by 33%. It's a result of testosterone levels in the body when you're young. More testosterone means more acne, and it also means more protection from heart disease later on.
2. A long ring finger.
Again, weird. If your ring finger is the same length as your index finger, your risk of heart disease later in life jumps. Numerous studies have found that having a longer ring finger is a result of greater fetal testosterone exposure, which lowers the risk of heart disease among men mostly.
3. A wrinkle on your earlobe.
If your earlobe has a wrinkle on it, it could be a sign that your heart isn't working as well as it should. Multiple studies have found that "Frank's Sign," as it's often called, may signal a blockage of an artery and be an early signal for heart disease.
