Having one, or both of these conditions are highly due to the levels of serotonin being low in the area of the brain responsible for emotional control. This causes us to act or think more impulsively, which may lead to harmful feelings, or behaviors.

5. Sweet and starchy cravings.

Sweet and starchy foods, including some carbohydrates are indirectly connected to serotonin levels. Carbohydrates help give your body enough tryptophan to start producing regular levels of serotonin again, which is why people with low serotonin have such strong cravings for the sweet and starchy foods.
