4. Let the sadness flow.
You may feel a lot of fear, regret, guilt, and sadness when a relationship ends, and that's okay. Don't try to suppress those feelings. If you do, you'll find yourself back at the anger stage. Let yourself be sad, but remind yourself of healthy ways to deal with it. Maybe don't turn to drinking, and definitely don't turn to drugs. Try exercise and spending time with people you love.
5. Accept it's over.
When you're done feeling angry, when you're done pining over the past, and when you're finally done feeling sad, accept that it's over. It'll be a truly liberating feeling to finally be through it all. But what comes next?
6. Rebuild.
When you're in a relationship, especially one that's not especially healthy, you can lose yourself. The foundation of your life can fall apart. Now, it's time to rebuild. Rediscover hobbies. Reconnect with old friends and make some new ones. Go on dates. Meet new people. Rebuild the foundation of your life.
