4. Drink water after breakfast.

After breakfast, it's easy to turn to sugary drinks, like sugar and soda. Instead, drink only water for the rest of the day. We drink about 300 calories a day. Sticking to water can save 90,000 calories a year, or 25 pounds!

5. Don't eat because you're bored.

That's a good mantra for you to repeat. "I will only eat when I'm hungry." When you just idly eat, you end up taking in more calories than you need. You should wait until you're hungry to eat. Revolutionary concept, right?

6. Sniff peppermint.

When you're feeling hungry, sniff some peppermint. It might sound silly, but it actually works. One study of 3,000 volunteers found that people who sniffed peppermint, as well as bananas and apples, felt less hungry and they lost on average 30 pounds over the course of a year. This is because by smelling foods, you trick your brain into thinking you're eating.
