Your kidneys are responsible for removing extra water and waste through urination, and if they aren't able to function efficiently your body wont be able to detoxify itself properly. This will result in an excess of waste in your blood, which has the potential to lead to serious diseases that can cause irreversible damage to your kidneys, and even the development of cancer in some cases. Right now 1 out of 5 people diagnosed with kidney cancer will die from it, but when discovered early chances of survival increase by 80%. Here's how you can enhance your body's ability to fight off kidney cancer...
1. Add some color to your diet.
It has become common knowledge that fruits and vegetables are full of antioxidants that help protect you from the development of cancer. Challenge yourself to consume at least 5 different colored vegetables and fruits every day. Additionally, you should buy all of the organic if possible to avoid the risk of eating produce grown, and sprayed with a variety of chemical pesticides.
2. Keep your blood pressure low.
There have been several medical studies done revealing that high blood pressure is a major factor leading to kidney cancer, and the prescriptions you use for treatment put you at even more of a risk. However, if you choose to treat your high blood pressure with a healthy diet, or other natural alternatives, you have a much better chance of avoiding the negative side effects that come with prescription medications. Although if your medication is necessary for controlling your blood pressure, you should consult your doctor before making any decisions in changing your dosage.
3. Escape environmental chemicals.
Various chemicals that are commonly found in the environment increase your risk of kidney cancer by simply being around them. Chemicals including cadmium, released in cigarette smoke, burning fossil fuels, and smelting, along with herbicides, which are most commonly found in household cleaners, are both leading causes of kidney cancer. To avoid these chemicals begin using all natural cleaners and pesticides, clean burning fuel, and avoiding cigarette smoke.
4. Conserve a healthy body weight.
Obesity is the cause for practically a quarter of all kidney cancer diagnoses, and about half the people diagnosed, although it may not have been the main cause, had an unhealthy body mass index. You can calculate your body mass index by comparing your height and weight, and you should attempt to get your BMI under 30, and maintaining it for more of a long term prevention of cancer in addition to other chronic diseases.
