The source of the water actually depends on the specific company's personal choice. Earlier we told you that Aquafina chooses to use public tap water, however, that is only one of the acceptable sources bottled water companies have to choose from.
They legally have the choices of purified water, spring water, groundwater, distilled water, and well water, but Aquafina isn't falsely labeling their bottles. Here's a list of companies who claim to be 100% spring water, but refuse to release the location of their water source:
- Big Y Natural Spring Water
- Cool Springs Purified Drinking Water
- Crystal Clear Bottled Water Purified Drinking Water
- Dasani Purified Water
- Deja Blue Purified Drinking Water
- Floravita 2000 Super Aqua Ultrapure Premium Water
- H20m Natural Spring Water
- Kroger Distilled Water
- Nursery Purified Water
- Publix Drinking Water
- Simply H20
- Smart Sense Purified Water
- Sunnyside Farms Purified Water
- Trader Joe's Electrolyte Enhanced Water
- Vintage Natural Spring Water
- Voss Artisan Water
- Whole Foods Italian Still Mineral Water
- 365 Everyday Value Spring Water
Why should you care?
Other than the fact that thousands of people are buying cases of bottled believing that it's healthier than tap water, the plastic bottles are also ruining the environment.
While there are a small amount of bottles that are recycled and repurposed, millions of pounds of plastic bottles are dumped into landfills everyday. Additionally, they have majorly contributed to the accumulation of plastic in the ocean, which puts the seabirds, and ocean creatures at a great risk.
