Cancer is one of the most terrifying plagues on humanity. It can be caused by things that we do to our bodies or just faulty genes, which is what makes it so scary. It can quickly fly out of control and take us down with it. So how do oncologists and cancer doctors keep themselves from getting cancer?

1. They get plenty of sun.

But wait a minute, doesn't that increase the chance of skin cancer? We'll talk about that in a minute. But first, it's important to know that reduced vitamin D intake can actually lead to some types of cancer. Even just 20 minutes of direct sunlight on bare skin gives you your daily dose of vitamin D.

2. They wear sunscreen.

Cancer experts recognize that getting too much sun without some kind of protection can give you a nasty case of skin cancer. On sunny days, cover up with a light longsleeve shirt and wear a sunhat. If you have to, wear sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays.

3. They stay active.

Activities like walking, swimming, bicycling, hiking, and other cardiovascular activities can not only help you drop weight and keep it off, but it can lower insulin levels which, among other things, may prove to be effective against cancer. At least 2 and a half hours of exercise are necessary every week.
