I'm sure you've heard the saying, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Taking care of our bodies by eating healthy food, getting plenty of rest and exercise is the first step in preventing many diseases. The second step is heeding our body's warning signals.
The human body is an amazing organism. When our body is healthy and working the way it's supposed to, we feel like we can take on the world! But, throw off one thing and our body tells us how unhappy it is with our decisions.
Something as simple as eating unhealthy food can cause our body distress that manifests as a gastro-intestinal nightmare. Yuck!
There are also some signals our body gives us that aren't quite as obvious as gastro-intestinal distress. Some signals are subtle and can even be dismissed as being caused by other things such as changes in weather.
But these subtle signs can be a forewarning of major illness. Here are 10 warning signs you body is trying to tell you that you should not ignore:
Brittle nails and hair
Low amounts of calcium and vitamin B in the body can cause your hair and nails to be brittle. This can easily be fixed by taking daily supplements. But brittle nails and hair can also be a sign of a biotin deficiency and hypothyroidism. Eating disorders can also cause hair and nails to be brittle.
Craving sour
If you have a craving for sour food, your liver and gall bladder may be congested and need some cleansing. Adding lemon to your water and squeezing some lemon juice over cooked greens and salads will help. Drinking cranberry juice will also help.
Craving salt
If you are craving salt it could mean you have a sodium deficiency or too much potassium in your body. It could also be caused by eating too many sweets. So, avoid sweets and table salt. Instead, use himalayan pink salt and add celery juice to your diet to re-mineralize your body.
Craving sweets
Craving sweets could be a sign of Candida overgrowth in your body. It could also be a sign of a glucose deficiency and/or serotonin imbalance. If you crave sugar after eating chips or other salty food, it's because you ate too much salt. Eating a balanced diet, increasing fiber, taking probiotics and a good Candida cleanse will help.
