3. Pressure in the chest.

Never ever ever ever ignore any kind of chest pressure or pain. It is a clear sign that you have some cardiovascular issue that needs to be addressed.

Chest pain is an early indicator that a heart attack is on the horizon and can come at any time. You may notice the pain spreading to your shoulders, arms, and back. If so, see a doctor immediately.

4. Flu symptoms.

This one is mostly anecdotal, but many people who have had heart attacks say they had flu-like symptoms in the weeks and months before their episode.

5. General exhaustion.

Feeling fatigued and exhausted can be a clear sign that your heart is not working properly. Decreased blood flow weakens the muscles and creates a sort of "brain fog."

Drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes can certainly exacerbate some of these feelings too. If you're starting to feel fatigued, consider quitting and visiting a doctor immediately.

6. Shortness of breath.

Chest pain, pressure, and shortness of breath are symptoms that simply are not to be ignored. As your arteries narrow, your lungs aren't as able to get the blood they need to function.

The heart and lungs work in tandem, so when one isn't doing well, the other isn't either. Without blood, your lungs work harder, giving you the sensation of shortness of breath.
