It is often said that your eyes are a window to your soul, but your toilet bowel is rarely recognized as a window to your body. While you may know that dark yellow pee can mean dehydration, there are a variety of other colors that have absolutely nothing to do with dehydration. A hospital lab worker has even developed a list of possible urine colors, and what they could mean. Here you can find out the true meaning behind the color of your urine...

1. Why is it White?

It doesn't always need to have a bright color to be a signal of an infection, and you might have to do a little more than stay properly hydrated to git rid of one. If your pee is a cloudy white color then kidney stones could be the cause, or it a really bad infection might be the cause for your unusual urine. Often times white urine means that you are mostly peeing out pus, so you should rush to a doctor for further advice.

2. Cola colored.

A rare genetic disorder, porphyria. which is a sensitivity to light can leave you with brownish or cola colored urine. This is because of the way the red blood cells are broken down by the bodies of people with this condition. In addition to occasional seizures, this condition also comes with abdominal pain and rashes. However, this is a once in a lifetime chance, and a more common cause for your discolored urine would be all the fava bean and rhubarb you just ate.

3. Going green.

Although the trademark smell of the vegetable may not be present, asparagus is likely the reason for the greenish tint to your pee. However, there have been cases where green urine has been linked to a proteus infection, which is rare urinary tract infection that usually causes kidney stones. So if start seeing green pee, and you haven't eaten any asparagus recently, it's time to visit your doctor to see what they have to say.
