Scientists Say Women Need To Stop Wearing Bras Immediately
Women who opt not to wear bras are often looked down on as unlady-like or hippies, but the results of a 15-year-long study conducted in France suggests that these ladies actually have the right idea.
“Medically, physiologically, anatomically, the breast does not benefit from being deprived of gravity,” Jean-Denis Rouillon, a professor at the University of Franche-Comté in Besançon, told France Info.
The study was conducted at the university’s hospital where Rouillon measured and examined the breasts of 300 women, aged 18 to 35, noting how the support from bras impacted their bodies and health over time.
His findings? Women who didn’t use a bra actually benefited in the long run. Their breasts had more muscle tissue and natural support. When bras were worn, some tissue didn’t grow, which actually caused sagging to happen faster and more severely.
“At first, I was a little reluctant to the idea of running without a bra,” said study participant Capucine Vercellotti, a 28-year-old woman. “But I got started and after five minutes, I had no trouble at all,”
If you’ve worn a bra for years, if not decades, Rouillon doesn’t advise you go outside and burn your bras just yet. It may actually be dangerous to stop wearing bras suddenly. Instead, wear your bras less and less frequently, building up strength in your breasts.
What do you think? Is it really harmful to wear a bra or is it no big deal?
