1. Go gluten free.
A gluten intolerance is common in people who suffer with hypothyroidism. Consuming gluten contained in food or drinks with processed wheat or barley can cause you to experience digestive problems, bloating, and abdominal pain. It is highly suggested to completely remove gluten from your diet, but if you choose to eat gluten products, despite your condition, make sure it's whole grain.
2. Soy may not be the choice.
Soy based products can increase the absorption of the thyroid hormone into your body, so if you have hyperthyroidism then eating these products can possibly worsen your condition. If it you are unable to fully give up soy, it is important that you only consume it in small amounts. However, If you have hypothyroidism doesn't really concern you.
3. Start your morning off with something different.
Drinking large amounts of coffee with a thyroid problem might not be the smartest idea. Too much caffeine can cause harm to your adrenal gland, which can cause fatigue, and possibly additional thyroid problems. So if you are an avid coffee drinker it would be smart to cutting back at least a little bit, and it would be ideal if you could eventually find a permanent replacement.
