I get a strong headache every once in a while, and if I’m not careful, it can really derail all of my plans for the day. It’s almost unbearable at times. Fortunately you can cure your headache using a simple home remedy instead of taking pills. You probably already have the ingredients for this salty lemonade.

You will need:

  • 2 organic lemons
  • Equal parts purified water. Don’t use bottled water!
  • Salt. We recommend Himalayan pink salt.

Juice your organic lemons. Mix an equal part of water in with the juice, and add a bit of the salt to the lemonade. Serve over ice if you like. We suggest using Himalayan salt because it contains electrolyes, 84 healthy minerals, and raises energy levels in the body. Salt also helps remove pain and balances serotonin in the body, increases immunity, and much more.

Eating lots of sugary foods like cakes and candies and forgetting to brush your teeth isn’t always the cause of cavities. The causes of tooth decay tend to vary from person to person. Tooth decay can be caused by not having enough minerals in your diet, not enough fat-soluble vitamins in your body, like A, D, E and K, and nutrients not being readily bioavailable, meaning your body isn’t soaking in the nutrients correctly.

Fortunately there is a solution! Eat the right foods for a healthy body! Foods like:

  • Coconut oil
  • Grassfed meats only
  • Organic vegetables
  • Whole grains
  • Bone broth

You may also want to try supplements like fermented cod liver oil. Of course, we’re not telling you not to avoid sweets and take good care of your teeth! But there are some alternatives to simply brushing and flossing three times a day. The video below gives us a rundown on how to heal those nasty little cavities.

When my parents were kids, they didn’t have all of the health information that we do today. They drank soda, smoked, cooked with lard, and thought it was all safe. It wouldn’t be for another few decades before we figured out how bad all of these habits were for us.

These days, people are more fixated on their health and that’s a good thing! We’re taking care to eat the foods that will empower each of our organs and tissues to work at its best. One of the biggest organs in our bodies are the intestines, large and small.

Did you know that in just 70 years, your intestines pass 100 tons of food and 40,000 liters of fluid. Talk about a hard working organ! Every once in a while, it’s good to do a cleanse and make sure that your colon is clean and maintains a healthy flora of bacteria. This is an easy, two-ingredient recipe, that will help give you a good cleansing.

You will need:

  • Linseed flour
  • Kefir

What you’ll want to do is consume this instead of breakfast each morning for three weeks. During the first week, mix 1 tablespoon of linseed flour with 100 ml of kefir. During week two, mix 2 tablespoons of linseed flour in 100 ml of kefir. During the third week, mix 3 tablespoons of linseed flour in with 150 ml of kefir. When you make this mixture, take care not to make enough for more than two or three days. The flour spoils relatively quickly when mixed with kefir.

After three weeks, your colon should be in a healthier spot, and so will you!

Pulling weeds totally stinks, but it’s one of those things we all have to do sometime. I’m sure you’ve pulled this one out of your yard more times than you can count. But did you know that this tough little weed is one of the strongest medicines on the planet? Wow!

Plantains come in two major varieties in BC, Canada: Broadleaf and Lance, although there are more than 200 varieties of plantain that yield similar results. It grows in similar conditions as dandelions, in rocky, poor soils. Often times, you’ll find them in gravel pits or in driveways. The plantain was first brought to North America by Europeans. The Native Americans called the plantain the “White Man’s Foot,” in an observation that where the white man went, so arrived the plantain.

Plantains have some pretty incredible medicinal uses. Did you know they are a good remedy for mosquito bites? Plantains are astringent in nature and draw toxins from the skin. If you’ve been stung by a bee, bitten buy a bug, have acne, or just about any other skin ailment, crushed plantains placed as a poultice over the skin can bring relief. Just bandage the skin for 4-12 hours and let it do its thing.

It’s also been noted to help with hemorrhoids. Ouch.

It’s also known to help people whose digestive system has been damaged by medications, Celiac disease and food allergies. The leaves can be made into a tea, added to food, or even made into chips.

The plantain is truly an amazing plant for the human body, treating a variety of health problems. Even if you don’t have any health problems, they’re good in salads, stir fries, you name it! This vegetable will keep you fighting-fit for the rest of your days.

Apple cider vinegar truly is an amazing creation that can be used as medicine. Simply mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with 4 tablespoons of water. Add in a couple tablespoons of honey and you’ve got an amazing concoction.

Apple cider vinegar helps to aid in digestion, blood circulation, and can even soothe a sore throat! It has also been documented to improve kidney and blood vessel function, which can help combat heart disease. Fertility can also be improved through apple cider vinegar! Lastly, apple cider vinegar has also been found to be a great ally in maintaining body weight and lowers high blood pressure.

Here is how you can use apple cider vinegar as medicine to combat almost anything and everything:

Cold/Flu/Sore Throat

Gargle the apple cider vinegar and honey mixture. Apple cider vinegar and honey both will soothe your throat, cough, and can help settle the stomach.

Headache

For headaches, mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with two tablespoons of honey. Mix well and drink the entire liquid. Your headache will be gone in minutes!

High blood pressure

For high blood pressure, mix two tablespoons with a glass of water. Consume this mixture 3 times a day in order to lower blood pressure!

Chronic Fatigue

Mix 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in 1 cup of honey. Store this mixture in a sealable jar. Consume two tablespoons of the mixture every night before bed.

Sinus Pain/Congestion

Add two tables spoons of apple cider vinegar into a glass of water. Do this as many times as possible throughout the day to combat the sinus pain.

Burns

Apply apple cider vinegar to the burn as many times as possible throughout the day. It will reduce pain and redness significantly.

Acne

Mix 1 part apple cider vinegar to every 2-3 parts water (depending on how much you want to make). Wash your face with this mixture 2-3 times a day.

Obesity/Weight Loss

Drink two glasses of water, each mixed with two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, every morning on an empty stomach.

Many people will suffer from gallstones and kidney stones at some point in their lives. Of course, stones are a very very serious medical condition that warrant a trip to your doctor for a professional consultation, but for preventing stones, whether they’ve occurred already or not, this folk remedy is perfect for you.

You will need equal parts of:

  • brown sugar
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 organic lemon with the peel
  • ground parsley root
  • raw honey

Instructions:

  1. Wash the lemon and cut into pieces. Grind it in a blender.
  2. Peel the parsley root and cut into small pieces.
  3. Mix everything in a food processor or blender until mixed evenly.

Take one tablespoon in the morning on an empty stomach and one before going to sleep. Keep this mix in the fridge in a glass bottle or it will go bad faster. The taste of this mix is not all that bad. Of course, drink plenty of fluids too.

Lemons aren’t just a tasty citrus fruit. They’re loaded with calcium, magnesium, vitamin C and potassium. These are all agents that can revitalize your hair, skin and nails. If you love lemons, you’re going to love this.

1. Rejuvinating lemon mask

Vitamin C and antioxidants in lemons can help keep your skin tight and healthy. Let’s make a mask out of lemons.

Here’s how to do it.

  • 2 tbls of natural yogurt
  • 1 tbls of freshly-squeezed lemon juice

Mix the ingredients up and apply to your face for a half hour. Leave it on up to an hour for the best effect.

2. Lip repair

You can apply a bit of lemon juice to your lips before bed to use as a moisturizer. I even mix it with a bit of coconut oil sometimes. Works like a charm.

3. Sweet face scrub

Lemon juice has been known to have antibacterial properties that help reduce acne, tighten pores and smooth the skin. Ditch the harsh chemical face washes. Try this one.

  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats (that serve as an exfoliant)
  • 1/2 tbls honey

Mix it all into a bowl and then gently massage onto your face for 30 seconds. Rinse with warm water.

4. Damaged hair repair

Lemons can help bring life back to dry, damaged hair. This saves money on conditioner and is easier on the environment too. Give it a try!

  • 2 tbls fresh lemon
  • 3/4th cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup of raw honey

Whisk everything in a bowl and apply to your hair. Allow to sit for a half hour. Afterward, rinse with warm water. Use some shampoo if you’re not ready to go ‘poo free yet.

5. Dandruff destroyer

Dandruff happens to pretty much everyone, but fortunately lemon juice can soothe your scalp, reduce itching, and kick dandruff to the curb. Just rub a tablespoon of fresh lemon juice onto your scalp while your hair is dry. Then, shampoo and rinse like normal. Then you can mix another two tablespoons of juice onto the scalp, but this time don’t wash it off.

6. Add highlights to your hair

Lemon juice is a natural hair highligher. Isn’t that something?

  • To lighten your hair, simply distribute lemon juice to the whole of your hair. Allow to sit for a bit.
  • Streaky Highlights: Apple cold lemon juice in a zigzag across your part. Comb both sides away from part.
  • Streaky Highlights For Pulled Back Hair: Begin by applying lemon juice in short lines from the center of your forehead down your hairline. Brush back from forehead.

7. Bath time gel

Lemon can reduce the negative effects of chlorine found in tap water on your skin. Apply this gel all over your body before soaking in the bath to prevent drying.

Ingredients:

  • 8 tsp natural yogurt (or curds)
  • 3 tsp lemon juice
  • 5 tsp starch (rice)
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp any oil vegetable

Blend everything and apply all over your skin. Let sit before 15 minutes before getting in the tub.

8. Teeth whitening action!

This is one I didn’t know about. Forget the fluoride-treated toothpastes and mouthwash! Try this:

  • Mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • Apply to each of your teeth with a clean Q-tip
  • Brush teeth as normal and rinse

9. Weak nails? Strengthen them!

Having trouble growing long, healthy nails? Don’t sweat it! The vitamin C in lemon juice can strengthen your nails. Just soak them in a bowl of lemon juice and a spoonful of melted coconut oil a couple times a week. Lemon juice gets rid of the dark, yellowish color nails sometimes get too.

10. Bleach your elbows and knees

If you don’t much like the way your skin around your joints looks after the fake tan wears off, don’t worry about it! Slice a half a lemon and gently rub your elbows and knees with the halves. The dark areas will disappear!

The price tag on over the counter drugs for your cold or flu can really start to pile on, especially if you just can’t seem to kick your sickness. Instead of reaching for big pharma medicines loaded with all sorts of nasty chemicals, try something natural.

You will need:

  • 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of organic coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon of raw honey
  • 1/2 an organic lemon – squeezed
  • 1/2 a cup of organic pineapple juice
  • 1/2 a teaspoon of chili powder.

Simply mix all of the ingredients together well. Take 3 tablespoons four times a day to relieve your cough.

The honey helps fight off bacterial infections, chili powder is a natural sore throat reliever that can also help serve as a nasal expectorant, apple cider vinegar can reduce inflammation, ease digestion, and clear infection from the body, and pineapple juice has been shown to relieve cough.

Some people have a lot of trouble kicking the smoking habit, and we get that! It’s a tough habit to fully kick. If you have recently quit, congratulations! If you’re working on it, we know you can do it. Your body will take time, even decades, to fully heal, but you can start today by helping cleanse your lungs of the tar and junk.

This is somewhat of an intense regimen, but fortunately it only lasts 72 hours. Let’s get into it.

  1. First, get rid of all dairy in the house. You won’t be able to have any for the next 72 hours.
  2. The night before your regimen begins, drink a cup of herbal tea of your choice. It’ll help stimulate digestion.
  3. In the morning, squeeze two fresh organic lemons into 300 ml of water and drink.
  4. After breakfast, drink 300ml of grapefruit juice. If you can’t tolerate grapefruit, you can use pineapple juice.
  5. Between breakfast and lunch, drink 300 ml of carrot juice.
  6. During lunch, drink 400 ml of juice that is rich in potassium. Cranberry juice is a good choice.
  7. Repeat this for the following two days.

Additionally, repeat these two activities daily:

  1. Each day, bathe yourself in hot water, allowing your body to sweat some.
  2. Put 5-10 drops of eucalyptus oil in a bowl of hot water. Place your head over the bowl and cover with a towel. Inhale the steam until the water produces no more.

Toothpaste is one of those things that everyone buys, but did you know that standard toothpaste produced commercially is loaded with nasty chemicals? They contain things like Sodium Laurel Sulfate, which exacerbates canker sores, and triclosan, which is similar to BPA in that it causes hormonal disruption.

Hell, just look at the stuff. Why on Earth would you need to put sparkly blue fluorescent paste in your mouth? Fortunately there is an alternative.

Coconut oil is a powerful plant extract that is capable of killing bacteria responsible for oral decay. Irish scientists found that coconut oil is able to kill steptococcus mutans, which is the bacteria that causes dental erosion. It’s also able to kill Candida albicans.

So how should coconut oil be used as a toothpaste? You can use straight coconut oil or try this recipe.

You will need:

  • 6 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 6 tablespoons of baking soda
  • 25 drops of essential oil (if you prefer a flavor)
  • 1 tsp of stevia (only if you want it to be sweeter)

Instructions:

  1. Mix ingredients in a bowl and whip until it’s a light, creamy texture.
  2. Pour into a mason jar. Leave the lid on between uses.
